Centrolenella altitudinalis Rivero, 1968, Mem. Soc. Cienc. Nat. La Salle, 28: 319. Holotype: MCZ 72500, by original designation. Type locality: "Quebrada cerca de Río Albarregas, 2.400 m., Estado Mérida, Venezuela".

Centrolene altitudinalis — Ruiz-Carranza and Lynch, 1991, Lozania, 57: 19. Incorrect subsequent spelling of the species name in combination with Centrolene.

Centrolene altitudinale — Myers and Donnelly, 1997, Am. Mus. Novit., 3213: 16.

English Names

Mountain Giant Glass Frog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 46).

Distribution

High gradiaten streams of the drainage of the Rio Alberregas, Mérida state, Venezuela, 1975-2400 m elevation.

Comment

In the Centrolene prosoblepon group according to Ruiz-Carranza and Lynch, 1991, Lozania, 57: 1-30. Señaris and Ayarzagüena, 2005, Rev. Taxonom. Fam. Centrolenidae de Venezuela: 56-66, provided a review of the morphology, natural history, and range of this species.
