Type locality: "Departamento de Antioquia, municipio de San Pedro, vereda La Lana, finca La Montañita, ca. 4 Km. NW por carretera a 'El Tambo', sector norte de la Cordillera Central, 6° 19′ latitud N, 75° 36′ W de Greenwich, 2510 m."

Distribution
Northern part of the Cordillera Central (Antioquia) and the eastern slope of the Cordillera Central (Risaralda), as well as on the western slope of the Cordillera Central in Caldas, Colombia, 800-2800 m elevation.
