Telmatobufo bullocki Schmidt, 1952, Fieldiana, Zool., 34: 12. Holotype: FMNH 23842, by original designation. Type locality: "Cerros de Nahuelbuta, Province of Malleco, Chile". Given as "Cordillera de Nahuelbuta, Angol, Malleco: en las vegas de altura, a 1000 o 1200 mtrs., bajo piedras", by Cei, 1962, Batr. Chile: 53.

Distribution
Coastal Range, Nahuelbuta, Araucania Region, Chile, 800-1200 m elevation; an apparently allopatric population well north of the Bio Bio River barrier in the Los Queules National Reserve, Maule Region, Chile.
Comment
This species was resurrected from the synonymy of Telmatobufo venustus by Formas and Veloso, 1982, Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 95: 688-693, where it had been placed by Venegas S., 1975, Bol. Soc. Biol. Concepcion, 49: 71. See account by Cei, 1962, Batr. Chile: 53-54. Escobar, Estades, Falcy, and Vukasovic, 2005, Herpetol. Rev., 36: 77, provided the record for Bio-Bio, Chile, and detailed the distribution.
