Comment

In the Bufo ockendeni (= Rhinella veraguensis) group in the original publication, a group recognized by Cei, 1980, Monit. Zool. Ital., N.S., Monogr., 2: 203. Although asserted to be a member of Rhinella (as Bufo typhonius group) group by Blair (ed.), 1972, Evol. Genus Bufo, its membership in the Rhinella veraguensis group (as Bufo) was supported by Hoogmoed, 1990, in Peters and Hutterer (eds.), Vert. Tropics: 117, and Harvey and Smith, 1993, Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 106: 442-449. See Lavilla and Cei, 2001, Monogr. Mus. Reg. Sci. Nat. Torino, 28: 26-27, noted confusion in the literature with Rhinella rumbolli. See brief account by Köhler, 2000, Bonn. Zool. Monogr., 48: 86-87. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status (as Bufo quechua) in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 190.
