Distribution

Elevations above 2000 m in the Andean region between 30° 30′ and 36° 00′ S, in central Chile near the Argentina frontier.

Transferred to Alsodes from Telmatobius by Veloso, Sallaberry-Ayerza, Navarro, Iturra-Constant, Valencia, Penna, and Diaz, 1982, in Veloso and Bustos (eds.), El Ambiente Nat. y Los Pobl. Humanas de los Andes: 204. This transferral supported by larval data supplied by Diaz and Valencia, 1985, Copeia, 1985: 175, on the basis of larval morphology. Cei, 1962, Batr. Chile: 61-62, discussed the species as Telmatobius montanus. Veloso, Sallaberry-Ayerza, Navarro, Iturra-Constant, Valencia, Penna, and Diaz, 1982, in Veloso and Bustos (eds.), El Ambiente Nat. y Los Pobl. Humanas de los Andes: 181-192, provided an account (as Telmatobius montanus). Correa-Quezada, Sallaberry-Ayerza, Iturra-Constant, Collado, and Méndez-Torres, 2008, Check List, 4: 467-471, discussed the range and provided specific localities in Chile.
