Volcanic tablelands of northwestern Argentinian Patagoniain the province of Chubut, in scattered localities.

Blotto, Nuñez, Basso, Úbeda, Wheeler, and Faivovich, 2013, Cladistics, 29: XXX, redelimited the species and removed Alsodes neuquensis from synonymy as a distinct species.
