Comment

See Inger, 1966, Fieldiana, Zool., 52: 85 (as Pelophryne brevipes), for synonymy and distribution; see also Berry, 1975, Amph. Fauna Peninsular Malaysia: 55-56, for account. See brief account (as Pelophryne brevipes) and photo by Manthey and Grossmann, 1997, Amph. Rept. Südostasiens: 41-43, for the Borneo population. Removed from the synonym of Pelophryne brevipes by R.F Inger in Frost, 1985, Amph. Species World: 38, where it had been placed by Inger, 1966, Fieldiana, Zool., 52: 85. See comment under Pelophryne brevipes. Das, Jankowski, Makmor, and Haas, 2007, Mitt. Hamburg. Zool. Mus. Inst., 104: 148, provided a brief description. See statement of geographic range, habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 612, who noted that records from Peninsular Malaysia and Natuna Island apply to Pelophryne brevipes; this, however, is problematic (DRF) as Pelophryne brevipes applies to a Philippine species so that status of West Malaysian and Sumatran populations remains arguable; see comments by Inger and Stuebing, 2009, Raffles Bull. Zool., 57: 532. Das, 2007, Amph. Rept. Brunei: 32, provided a photograph and a brief account. See brief account by Grismer, 2012, Field Guide Amph. Rept. Seribuat Arch.: 49-50, for the Seribuat Archipelago, West Malaysia.
