Osornophryne angel Yánez-Muñoz, Altamirano-Benavides, Cisneros-Heredia, and Gluesenkamp, 2011 "2010", Avanc. Cienc. Ingen., Quito, Secc. B, 2 (3): 47. Holotype: DHMECN04617, by original designation. Type locality: "el páramo de las Lagunas del Voladero, Reserva Ecológica El Ángel (00° 41′ 04.4″N, 77° 52′ 44.9″ W; 3797 m), provincia de Carchi, República del Ecuador".

Distribution

Páramos on the western slope of the Cordillera Occidental from the Reserva Ecológica El Ángel in the south north to the Volcán Chiles, Provincia del Carchi, Ecuador, between 3252 and 3797 m elevation; likely to be found in adjacent Colombia. .

Comment

Páez-Moscoso and Guayasamin, 2012, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 65: 805-822, suggested that this taxon is part of an Osornophryne bufoniformis species complex that is poorly elucidated.
