Nectophrynoides cryptus Perret, 1971, Ann. Fac. Sci. Cameroun, 6: 104. Holotype: MCZ 12480, by original designation. Type locality: "Nyingwa, Monts Uluguru, 7 10′ S: 37 40′ E, Tanzanie, 2,200 m".
