Type locality: "Laitique on the banks of the river Pelechuco, ca. 5 hours downstream walking from the village of Pelechuco to Apolo, Provincia Franz Tamayo, La Paz, Bolivia, 14° 47′ 09″ S, 69° 01′ 34″ W, 2820 m".

Distribution
Known only from the type locality in the cloud forest of the Cordillera de Apolobamba, La Paz, Bolivia.
Comment
Sharing with Bufo cophotis, Bufo corynetes, and Bufo variegata, the lack of a tympanum, according to the original publication. In the Bufo variegatus group (now Nannophryne) according to Pramuk, 2006, Zool. J. Linn. Soc., 146: 435.
