Crepidophryne guanacaste Vaughan and Mendelson, 2007, Copeia, 2007: 308. Holotype: UCR 12877, by original designation. Type locality: "Costa Rica, Guanacaste, Canton Bagaces, Distrito Fortuna, Volcán Miravalles".

Distribution

Cloudforest and wind-swept elfin forests on the slopes of Volcáan Miravalles and Volcán Rincón de la Vieja in the Cordillera de Guanacaste, Costa Rica.

Comment

Mendelson, Mulcahy, Williams, and Sites, 2011, Zootaxa, 3138: 1-34, suggested that this species is a member of a monophyletic Incilius coniferus group that includes Incilius coniferus, Incilius chompipe, Incilius epioticus, Incilius fastidiosus, Incilius guanacastes, Incilius holdridgei, Incilius karenlipsae, Incilius periglenes, and Incilius peripatetes.
