Mus., 160: 29; the designation of Bufo cognatus Say, 1823, as type species by Frost, Grant, Faivovich, Bain, Haas, Haddad, de Sá, Channing, Wilkinson, Donnellan, Raxworthy, Campbell, Blotto, Moler, Drewes, Nussbaum, Lynch, Green, and Wheeler, 2006, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 297: 222, is in error, according to Frost, Mendelson, and Pramuk, 2009, Copeia, 2009: 418-419.

Cranopsis Cope, 1875 "1876", J. Acad. Nat. Sci. Philadelphia, Ser. 2, 8: 96. Type species: Cranopsis fastidiosus Cope, 1875 "1876", by monotypy. Junior homonym of Cranopsis Adams, 1860 (Mollusca) and Cranopsis Dall, 1871 (Brachiopoda). Synonymy by Frost, Mendelson, and Pramuk, 2009, Copeia, 2009: 418-419.

Cranophryne Cope, 1889, Bull. U.S. Natl. Mus., 34: 20. Replacement name for Cranopsis Cope, 1875 "1876".
