Ghatophryne Biju, Van Bocxlaer, Giri, Loader, and Bossuyt, 2009, BMC Res. Notes, 2 (241): 2. Type species: Ansonia ornata Gunther, 1876 "1875", by original designation.
None noted.
Kerala and Karnataka in the Western Ghates of southern India.
Van Bocxlaer, Loader, Roelants, Biju, Menegon, and Bossuyt, 2010, Science, 327: 679-682, suggested that Ghatophryne is the sister taxon of Pedostibes + Adenomus + Xanthophryne + Duttaphrynus. Pyron and Wiens, 2011, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 61: 543-583, in their study of Genbank sequences, suggested that this taxon is the sister of Didynamipus although this is obscured by their explicit adoption of an out-dated and non-monophyletic taxonomy.
