Distribution

Amazon and Orinoco drainage systems of South America: Brazil (states of Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Goiás, Pará and Roraima), Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Peru and Venezuela; presumably expected in Surinam, Guyana, and northern Bolivia.

Comment

Marty, Ravel, Bordage, and Lescure, 2007, Bull. Soc. Herpetol. France, 121: 35-38, reported the species in French Guiana. Lynch, 2000 "1999", Rev. Acad. Colomb. Cienc. Exact. Fis. Nat., 23: 334, mapped distribution in Colombia. Taylor and Peters, 1974, Univ. Kansas Sci. Bull., 50: 337, commented on the single Ecuadorian specimen known at the time from Pucayacú, Pastaza Province. Cintra, Silva, Gonçalves, and Silva, 2010, Herpetol. Rev., 41: 242, provided a record for the state of Maranhão, Brazil. Maciel and Hoogmoed, 2011, Zootaxa, 2984: 33-38, provided a detailed account and spot map.
