Siphonops hardyi Boulenger, 1888, Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist., Ser. 6, 1: 189. Holotype: BMNH 1947.2.13.87 (formerly 1887.12.29.39), according to Taylor, 1968, Caecilians of the World: 557. Type locality: "Porto Real, province of Rio Janeiro", Brazil.

English Names

Hardy's Caecilian (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 25).

Distribution

Southeastern Brazil (São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Espírito Santo, and Minas Gerais, although presumably more widespread).

Izecksohn and Carvalho-e-Silva, 2001, Anf. Municipio Rio de Janeiro: 95, provided a brief account and photo.
