Distribution

Known from the type locality in French Guiana and Surinam (see comment).

Comment

Surinam specimens reported on by Nussbaum and Hoogmoed, 1979, Zool. Meded., Leiden, 54: 229, although this and other records were subsequently mapped by Maciel and Hoogmoed, 2011, Bol. Mus. Parense Emilio Goeldi, Cienc. Nat., 6: 71, as Microcaecilia rabei. Lescure and Marty, 2000, Collect. Patrimoines Nat., Paris, 45: 298-299, provided a photo and brief account for French Guiana. Wilkinson and Kok, 2010, Zootaxa, 2719: 35-40, noted that the earlier report for Guyana and the description of nominal Microcaecilia unicolor by Taylor, 1968, Caecilians of the World: 543,is based on the holotype of Microcaecilia iyob.
