Bdellophis vittatus Boulenger, 1895, Proc. Zool. Soc. London, 1895: 412. Holotype: BMNH 1946.9.5.59 (formerly 1895.5.29.6), according to Taylor, 1968, Caecilians of the World: 658. Type locality: "Usambara, [Tanga Division,] German East Africa" (= Tanzania).
