Hypogeophis brevis Boulenger, 1911, Trans. Linn. Soc. London, Ser. 2, 14: 375. Syntypes: BMNH 1946.9.5.24-25 (formerly 1910.3.18.84-85); BMNH 1946.9.5.24 designated lectotype by Taylor, 1968, Caecilians of the World: 755. Type locality: "Mahé, the smaller.. . from Cascade, the larger from the west side of Mt. Seychellois, altitude 1200 ft.", Seychelles Islands. Restricted to "the west side of Mt. Seychellois, altitude 1200 ft.", Seychelles Islands, by lectotype designation.

Distribution

Higher elevations of the islands of Mahé (above 400 m elevation) and Silhouette (above 100 m elevation), Seychelles Islands, Indian Ocean.
