Gegeneophis mhadeiensis Bhatta, Dinesh, Prashanth, and Kulkarni, 2007, Curr. Sci., Bangalore, 93: 1442. Holotype: BNHS 4643, by original designation. Type locality: "the surroundings of Rameshwar temple, 15° 39′ N lat., 74° 08′ E long. (Chorla Village, Khanapur Taluk, Belgaum District, Karnataka), . The locality is situated at 728 msl, adjacent to the Mahadayi Wildlife Sanctuary in the Western Ghats region."
English Names
Mhadei Caecilian (Dinesh, Radhakrishnan, Gururaja, and Bhatta, 2009, Rec. Zool. Surv. India, Occas. Pap., 302: 126).
Distribution
Region of the Mahadayi Wildlife Sanctuary, northern Karnataka, as wella s in adjacent Goa,Western Ghats, southwestern India.
Comment
Bhatta, Dinesh, Prashanth, Kulkarni, and Radhakrishnan, 2010, J. Threatened Taxa, 2: 1105-1108, reported the species from Surla, Goa, and provided a dot-map of the species.
