Ichthyophis weberi Taylor, 1920, Philipp. J. Sci., 16: 227. Holotype: Philippine Bureau of Science by original designation (destroyed in World War II); CAS-SU 21758 designated neotype by Taylor, 1965, Univ. Kansas Sci. Bull., 46: 286. Type locality: "Malatgan River, Palawan", Philippines; neotype is from "Iwahig, Palawan", Philippines (near the original type locality).

Removed from the synonymy of Ichthyophis monochrous by Taylor, 1968, Caecilians of the World: 47, 165, where it had been placed tentatively by Van Kampen, 1923, Amph. Indo-Austral. Arch.: 3, and by Inger, 1954, Fieldiana, Zool., 33: 183-531.
