D. Gower in Grismer and Pan, 2008, Herpetol. Rev., 39: 270-281, suggested that the taxonmic distinctiveness of Ichthyophis monochrous, Ichthyophis glutinosus, Ichthyophis singaporensis, and Ichthyophis paucisulcus needs confirmation via genetic analyses.
