Dermophis glandulosus Taylor, 1955, Univ. Kansas Sci. Bull., 37: 509-511. Holotype: KU 29979, by original designation. Type locality: "San Isidro del General, [Cantón de Pérez Zeledón,] San José Province", Costa Rica. Savage, 1974, Rev. Biol. Tropical, 22: 104, commented on the type locality.

Dermophis balboai Taylor, 1968, Caecilians of the World: 461. Holotype: KU 76184, by original designation. Type locality: "Tacarcuna, Darién, Panamá". Synonymy by Savage and Wake, 2001, Copeia, 2001: 52-64.

Distribution

Isolated populations from eastern Costa Rica on the Pacific slope through Panama to the Choco region of northwestern Colombia.

Comment

Removed from the synonymy of Dermophis mexicanus by Savage and Wake, 2001, Copeia, 2001: 52-64, where it had been placed by Savage and Wake, 1972, Copeia, 1972: 680-695. See note by Savage, 2002, Amph. Rept. Costa Rica: 839. Medina, Sosa Bartuano, Ibáñez, and Osburn, 2011, Herpetol. Rev., 42: 387, provided a range extension to the Distrito de Panamá, Panamá, Panama, and discussed the range.
