Bufo silentvalleyensis Pillai, 1981, Bull. Zool. Surv. India, 3: 156. Type(s): Not stated but ZSI-SRS VA/777 is holotype according to Chanda, Das, and Dubois, 2001 "2000", Hamadryad, 25: 104. Type locality: "near Valiaparai Thodu, Silent Valley Forests, [Kerala,] S. India, Alt. 800 metres".

Silent Valley Toad (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 43; Das and Dutta, 1998, Hamadryad, 23: 63).

South Indian Hill Toad (Chanda, 2002, Handb. Indian Amph.: 27).

Distribution

Known only from the type locality (near Valiaparai, Thodu, Kerala, India).

Comment

Dubois and Ohler, 1999, J. South Asian Nat. Hist., 4: 166, suggested that this taxon is a likely synonym of Bufo parietalis and they placed it in their Bufo scaber group. Chanda, 2002, Handb. Indian Amph.: 27, provided a brief account.
