Comment

Taylor, 1968, Caecilians of the World: 611, had some doubt whether the type had actually come from the stated type locality. A second specimen, locality also unknown, was reported by Taylor, 1970, Univ. Kansas Sci. Bull., 48: 857. According to M.H. Wake in Frost, 1985, Amph. Species World: 624, it is part of a Duke University numerical series of material collected in Brazil, so it may support the presence of this species in that country although Taylor did not comment.
