Caecilia volcani Taylor, 1969, Univ. Kansas Sci. Bull., 48: 315. Holotype: KU 203035 (not EHT-HMS 4689 [now in FMNH] as mentioned in the original publication); see Summers and Wake, 2001, Copeia, 2001: 561-562, for discussion of confusion regarding the identification of the holotype. Type locality: "El Valle de Antón, Coclé, Panamá (elev. 550 m)".

Distribution
Known only from within 20 km of the continental divide in the provides of Bocas del Toro, Chiriquí, and Coclé, Panama.
