Caecilia thompsoni Boulenger, 1902, Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist., Ser. 7, 10: 152. Holotype: BMNH 1946.9.5.13 (formerly 1902.5.15.26), according to Taylor, 1968, Caecilians of the World: 449. Type locality: "Villeta [between Hondo and Bogotá,] Colombia, altitude 3500 feet".

English Names

Thompson's Caecilian (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 23).

Distribution

Middle Magdalena Valley in the provinces of Tolima, Caldas, Cauca, Cundinamarca, and Boyacá, Colombia.

Comment

Lynch, 2000 "1999", Rev. Acad. Colomb. Cienc. Exact. Fis. Nat., 23: 326, suggested that some confusion with Caecilia nigricans had appeared in the literature. Acosta-Galvis, Huertas-Salgado, and Rada, 2006, Rev. Acad. Colomb. Cienc. Exact. Fis. Nat., 30: 291-303, reported the species in Caldas, Colombia.
