Caecilia orientalis Taylor, 1968, Caecilians of the World: 417. Holotype: JAP 4688, by original designation (now presumably in USNM). Type locality: "La Bonita, Napo-Pastaza Prov., Ecuador, elevation 6300 ft."

English Names

La Bonita Caecilian (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 23).

Distribution

Cordillera Occidental and Cordillera Central of Colombia and adjacent Ecuador, below 2140 m in wet forest; possibly northwestern Colombia.

Comment

Taylor and Peters, 1974, Univ. Kansas Sci. Bull., 50: 340-341, commented on the habitat and range as well geographic variation. Mueses-Cisneros, 2005, Caldasia, 27: 237, provided records for Putumayo, Colombia. See note by Guayasamin and Funk, 2009, Zootaxa, 2220: 41-66, on this species at the Yanayacu Biological Station, Napo, Ecuador.
