Surinam and eastern Ecuador, presumably in the intervening regions though not so far reported from there.
Removed from the synonymy of Caecilia tentaculata by Taylor, 1972, Univ. Kansas Sci. Bull., 49: 1018, where it had been placed by by Gray, 1850, Cat. Spec. Amph. Coll. Brit. Mus., Batr. Grad.: 58. Taylor and Peters, 1974, Univ. Kansas Sci. Bull., 50: 342, figured a specimen from Ecuador and commented on the range.
