Stöck, Moritz, Hickerson, Frynta, Dujsebayeva, Eremchenko, Macey, Papenfuss, and Wake, 2006, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 41: 663-689, reported a closely related, but unnamed species, from Bolshoi Balkhan, Turkmenistan. Chanda, 2002, Handb. Indian Amph.: 24-25, and Khan, 2006, Amph. Rept. Pakistan: 52, provided a brief accounts (as Bufo viridis zugmayeri).
