Thorius arboreus Hanken and Wake, 1994, Copeia, 1994: 578. Holotype: MVZ 196078, by original designation. Type locality: "10.9 km (rd.) W La Esperanza, along Hwy. 175, Oaxaca, México".

English Names

Arboreal Thorius (Liner and Casas-Andreu, 2008, Herpetol. Circ., 38: 36).

Distribution

Known only from the vicinity of the type locality in cloud forest on the Atlantic drainage of the Sierra de Juarez, Oaxaca, Mexico, 2170-2755 m elevation.

Comment

Highton, 2000, in Bruce et al., Biol. Plethodontid Salamanders: 223, suggested, on the basis of allozyme evidence that three species likely masquerade under this name. Raffaëlli, 2007, Les Urodèles du Monde: 238, provided a brief account and map.
