Pseudoeurycea quetzalanensis Parra-Olea, Canseco-Márquez, and García-París, 2004, Herpetologica, 60: 479. Holotype: IBUNAM 14208, by original designation. Type locality: "Xocoyolo, 1400 m, Municipio de Cuetzalan del Progreso, Puebla, Mexico, 19° 58′ N, 97° 32′ W".

English Names

Cuetzalan Salamander (original publication; Liner and Casas-Andreu, 2008, Herpetol. Circ., 38: 34).

Distribution

Cloud forests of Puebla from the region of Xocoyolo to 18 km southeast of Xocoyolo, Mexico, 905-1400 m elevation.

Comment

Likely related to Pseudoeurycea praecellens according to the original publication. Raffaëlli, 2007, Les Urodèles du Monde: 222, provided a brief account, photograph, and map, and considered it to be in the Pseudoeurycea praecellens group. Mociño-Deloya, García-Vazquez, Solano-Zavaleta, and Rosado-Luna, 2007, Herpetol. Rev., 38: 213, provided the first records other than the type locality.
