Known only from deforested remnant oak-cloud forest in the mountain pass of Plan de Guadalupe and its immediate surroundings, along the road from Teotitlán del Valle to Huautla, Oaxaca, 2150-2155 m elevation.
In the Pseudoeurycea leprosa group, according to the original publication. Raffaëlli, 2007, Les Urodèles du Monde: 207-208, provided a brief account, photograph, and map, who considered this species to be in the Pseudoeurycea leprosa group.
