Oedipina ignea Stuart, 1952, Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 65: 1. Holotype: USNM 127959, by original designation. Type locality: "along the Río Las Brisas, just south of Yepocapa, Department of Chimaltenango, Guatemala. Elevation about 1450 m."

English Names

Chimaltenango Worm Salamander (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 32).

Distribution

Southwestern Guatemala and extreme southwestern Honduras, 1000-2000 m elevation.

Comment

In the Oedipina uniformis group, Oedipina uniformis subgroup. Removed from the synonymy of Oedipina taylori by Brame, 1968, J. Herpetol., 2: 45, where it had been placed by Brame, 1960, Bull. S. California Acad. Sci., 59: 159. See McCranie and Wilson, 2002, Amph. Honduras: 156-157, for account. Raffaëlli, 2007, Les Urodèles du Monde: 289, provided a brief account and map. McCranie, 2007, Herpetol. Rev., 38: 36, summarized the departmental distribution in Honduras.
