Cryptotriton sierraminensis Vásquez-Almazán, Rovito, Good, and Wake, 2009, Copeia, 2009: 314. Holotype: MVZ 257801, by original designation. Type locality: "Guatemala, Departamento de Zacapa, Sierra de las Minas, Municipio Rio Hondo, Finca Planada de Margot, 18.7 km (by road) from CA-9 at Aldea Las Pozas (km 143.5), 15°10′12″N, 89°30′52″W (WGS84 datum), 1720 m".

Distribution
Known only from the cloud forests of the Sierra de las Minas, Departamento de Zacapa, eastern Guatemala.
Comment
The sister taxon of Cryptotriton veraepacis according to the original publication.
