Bolitoglossa zapoteca Parra-Olea, García-París, and Wake, 2002, J. Herpetol., 36: 363. Holotype: IBUNAM 13375, by original designation. Type locality: "1 km east Santa María Ecatepec, Oaxaca, México, 1875 m elevation, 16° 17.23′ N, 95° 53.30′ W".

English Names

Zapotec Salamander (original publication; Liner and Casas-Andreu, 2008, Herpetol. Circ., 38: 30).

Distribution

Known only from a small area of former pine-oak forest in the eastern portion of the Sierra Madre del Sur of Oaxaca, specifically the mountains east of Quiegolani.

Comment

In the Bolitoglossa macrinii group according to the original publication which now constitutes the subgenus Oaxakia according to Parra-Olea, García-París, and Wake, 2004, Biol. J. Linn. Soc., 81: 336. Raffaëlli, 2007, Les Urodèles du Monde: 272, provided a brief account and map.
