Bolitoglossa (Eladinea) tica García-París, Parra-Olea, and Wake, 2008, Herpetol. J., 18: 24. Holotype: MVZ 203684, by original designation. Type locality: "0.8-0.9 km SSW El Empalme junction on InterAmerican Highway 2, Prov. Cartago and San José, Costa Rica; 9.7137, -83.9507; 2360-2370 m elevation".

Northern slopes of the Cordillera de Talamanca between 2200 and 2500 m, as well as from the Cerros de Escazú, isolated to the northwest, which form the southern boundary of the Meseta Central of Costa Rica.
In the Bolitoglossa (Eladinea) subpalmata group, unnamed species B of García-París, Good, Parra-Olea, and Wake, 2000, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA, 97: 1640-1647, and most closely related to Bolitoglossa subpalmata according to the original publication. .
