Bolitoglossa heiroreias Greenbaum, 2004, J. Herpetol., 38: 412. Holotype: KU 289800, by original designation. Type locality: "Camel Cigarettes Field Station at base of Cerro Montecristo, Depto. Santa Ana, El Salvador, elevation 1880 m . . . . 14° 24′ 04″ N, 89° 21′ 02″ W".

Cerro Monte Cristo and nearby peaks in northwestern El Salvador, adjacent Guatemala, and adjacent Honduras, 1840-2300 m elevation.

In the Bolitoglossa dunni group according to the original publication. Raffaëlli, 2007, Les Urodèles du Monde: 270, provided a brief account, photograph, and map. McCranie, 2007, Herpetol. Rev., 38: 36, summarized the departmental distribution in Honduras. Reviewed by McCranie, 2008, Cat. Am. Amph. Rept., 842: 1-3.
