Costa Rica: 138-139, noted that records of Bolitoglossa flaviventris from Costa Rica are based on specimens of Bolitoglossa striatula. García-París, Parra-Olea, Brame, and Wake, 2002, Rev. Esp. Herpetol., 16: 49, regarded this species as forming the sister taxon of the remaining members of the Bolitoglossa mexicana group.
