Oedipus dunni Schmidt, 1933, Field Mus. Nat. Hist. Publ., Zool. Ser., 20: 16. Holotype: FMNH 4550, by original designation. Type locality: "mountains west of San Pedro, Honduras. Altitude 4500 feet". Type locality corrected to "apparently along the Quebrada del Infierno on the eastern slope of the Cerro de La Virtúd" by McCranie and Wilson, 2002, Amph. Honduras: 116; expanded by McCranie, 2008, Cat. Am. Amph. Rept., 841: 3, to "along the Quebrada del Infierno on the eastern slopes of the Cerra de la Virtúd, 1370 m elevation, 15° 32′ N, 88° 06′ W".

Distribution

Known only from cloud forests of the mountains of Espíritu Santo and Omoa in northwestern Honduras; presumably in adjacent Guatemala.

In the Bolitoglossa (Magnadigita) dunni group of Parra-Olea, García-París, and Wake, 2004, Biol. J. Linn. Soc., 81: 336. Discussed and redescribed by McCranie and Wilson, 1993, Herpetologica, 49: 1-15, who reviewed the species group. McCranie and Wilson, 2002, Amph. Honduras: 115-118, provided an account. Raffaëlli, 2007, Les Urodèles du Monde: 268, provided a brief account and map. McCranie, 2007, Herpetol. Rev., 38: 36, summarized the departmental distribution in Honduras. McCranie, 2008, Cat. Am.
