Known definitely only from the type locality (Dahoaping of Tengchong, Yunnan, China, 1900 m elevation).

Removed from the synonym of "Bufo" burmanus by Yang, 2008, in Yang and Rao (ed.), Amph. Rept. Yunnan: 59, where it had been placed by Yang, Liu, and Rao, 1996, Zool.
