Torrentophryne tuberospinia Yang, Liu, and Rao, 1996, Zool. Res., Kunming, 17: 356. Holotype: KIZ 820645, by original designation. Type locality: "Dahaoping of Tengchong, Yunnan, . . . 1900 m", China.

By implication of synonymy of Torrentophryne with Bufo by Frost, Grant, Faivovich, Bain, Haas, Haddad, de Sá, Channing, Wilkinson, Donnellan, Raxworthy, Campbell, Blotto, Moler, Drewes, Nussbaum, Lynch, Green, and Wheeler, 2006, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 297: 215, and the apparently lack of phylogenetic homogeneity of "Torrentophryne".

Distribution

Known definitely only from the type locality (Dahoaping of Tengchong, Yunnan, China, 1900 m elevation).

Comment

Removed from the synonym of "Bufo" burmanus by Yang, 2008, in Yang and Rao (ed.), Amph. Rept. Yunnan: 59, where it had been placed by Yang, Liu, and Rao, 1996, Zool. Res., Kunming, 17: 353-359 (according to Rao, Yang, and Wang, 1998, Russ. J. Herpetol., 5: 67). See brief accounts (as Torrentophryne tuberospinia) by Zhao and Yang, 1997, Amph. Rept.
