Protohynobius puxiongensis Fei and Ye, 2000, Cultum Herpetol. Sinica, 8: 65. Holotype: CIB 65II0220, by original designation. Type locality: "Puxiong (102° 49′ E, 28° 31′ N), Yuexi County, Sichuan Province; altitude 2900 m", China.

English Names

Puxiong's Protohynobiid (Fei and Ye, 2001, Color Handbook Amph. Sichuan: 84).

Distribution

Known only from within 3 km of the type locality (Puxiong, Sichuan, China).

Peng, Zhang, Xiong, Gu, Zeng, and Zou, 2010, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 56: 252-258, discussed range and provided a new locality. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 38, provided a brief account, photographs and illustration of specimens as well as a habitat shot. Xiong, Gu, Gong, and Zeng, 2011, Zootaxa, 2919: 51-59, described the adult, larvae, karyotype, breeding habitat, and habits.
