Comment

Most similar to Hynobius amjiensis, according to the original publication. See brief account by Raffaëlli, 2007, Les Urodèles du Monde: 45. Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 3: 1600-1604, provided an account , figures, and range map. Nishikawa, Jiang, Matsui, Mo, Chen, Kim, Tominaga, and Yoshikawa, 2010, Zootaxa, 2426: 65-67, suggested that this species is the sister taxon of Hynobius chinesis + Hynobius maoershanensis. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 44, provided a brief account including photographs of specimens and habitat.
