Hynobius abei Sato, 1934, J. Sci. Hiroshima Univ., B—Zool., 3: 15. Holotype: ZIHU 811; lost in World War II according to M. Matsui in Frost, 1985, Amph. Species World: 563. Type locality: "Nagaoka, Chozen-mura, Naka-gun, Kyoto-fu [Prefecture]", Honshu Island, Japan.

Distribution

Known only from a restricted area in the northern region of Kyoto and Hyogo Prefectures, southwestern Honshu, Japan.
