Siredon lermaensis Taylor, 1940 "1939", Univ. Kansas Sci. Bull., 26: 427. Holotype: EHT-HMS 22578, by original designation; now FMNH 100029 according to Marx, 1976, Fieldiana, Zool., 69: 41. Type locality: "Lake Lerma, east of Toluca, México", Mexico.

Distribution
South of the city of Toluca, México, Mexico, near the villages of Tenango, Santa Maria, Jajalpa and San Pedro, México, where the last remnants of Lake Lerma, are located. The species may also be found in canals and in the Rio Lerma between Toluca and the town of Lerma and in the lake-like widening of the Río Lerma north of Toluca caused by dam construction, 2800-3000 m elevation.
