Telmatobius arequipensis Vellard, 1955, Mem. Mus. Hist. Nat. Javier Prado, 4: 20. Syntypes: MNHSM 63, 153, 331, and 366 (now MNHNP 1957.861). MNHNP 1957.861 designated lectotype by Lavilla, 1988, Alytes, 7: 8. The subsequent lectotype designation of MUSM 3916 (renumbered) by Morales, Carrillo, and Ortega, 1990, Publ. Mus. Hist. Nat. Univ. Nac. Mayor San Marcos, 33: 3, is invalid (see comments in Lavilla, 1997, Cuad. Herpetol., 11: 75-80). Type locality: "Ríachuelo de Yura; praderas inundadas cerca del río Chili, riachuelos cerca de Arequipa. (2,400-2,600 m. )", Peru.

Distribution

Arequipa region of Peru (departments of Arequipa and Puno), 2000-4500 m elevation.
