Phrynoderma asperum Boulenger, 1893, Ann. Mus. Civ. Stor. Nat. Genova, Ser. 2, 13: 342. Syntypes: MSNG (1 specimen), BMNH (2 specimens) [note that only 2 specimens mentioned in original publication] and MSNG 29414 designated lectotype by Capocaccia, 1957, Ann. Mus. Civ. Stor. Nat. Genova, Ser. 3, 69: 218. Type locality: "Thao", northern Myanmar. Secondary homonym of Ixalus asper Boulenger, 1886.
