Polypedates eques Günther, 1858, Arch. Naturgesch., 24: 325. Syntypes: BMNH (14 specimens) according to Günther, 1859 "1858", Cat. Batr. Sal. Coll. Brit. Mus.: 80, including BMNH 58.6.15.9-12, 54.3.21 + 1 untraced, according to XXX. Type locality: "Ceylon" (= Sri Lanka).
