Rhacophorus feae Boulenger, 1893, Ann. Mus. Civ. Stor. Nat. Genova, Ser. 2, 13: 338. Syntypes: (3 specimens) MSNG 29415, BMNH 93.10.9.24 , and ZMH A04063 (according to Hallermann, 2006, Mitt. Hamburg. Zool. Mus. Inst., 103: 140); MSNG 29415 designated lectotype by Capocaccia, 1957, Ann. Mus. Civ. Stor. Nat. Genova, Ser. 3, 69: 216. Type locality: "Thao", northern Myanmar.

Distribution

Myanmar through northern Thailand and northern Laos to the northern and central highlands of Vietnam, and southwestern Yunnan, China.

Discussed by Bourret, 1942, Batr. Indochine: 439-441, as Rhacophorus nigropalmatus feae. See Liu and Hu, 1961, Tailless Amph. China: 261-262. Yang, 1991, Amph. Fauna of Yunnan: 203-205; and Fei, 1999, Atlas Amph. China: 276-277, provided accounts. Removed from the synonymy of Rhacophorus nigropalmatus by Inger, 1966, Fieldiana, Zool., 52: 321. In the Rhacophorus (Rhacophorus) dennysii group of Dubois, 1987 "1986", Alytes, 5: 77; see comment under Rhacophorus for dissenting opinion regarding the recognition of this group. Orlov, Lathrop, Murphy, and Ho, 2001, Russ. J. Herpetol., 8: 32-35, provided an account of the Vietnam population and discussed its close similarity to Rhacophorus dennysi. Orlov, Murphy, Ananjeva, Ryabov, and Ho, 2002, Russ. J. Herpetol., 9: 96, commented on the Vietnamese distribution. Chan-ard, 2003, Photograph. Guide Amph. Thailand: 158-159, provided a very brief account, map for Thailand, and photograph. Nguyen, Ho, and Nguyen, 2005, Checklist Amph. Rept. Vietnam: 37, provided specific localities for Vietnam. Stuart, 2005, Herpetol. Rev., 36: 478, provided a record for Phongsaly Province, Laos. Orlov, Nguyen, and Ho, 2008, Russ. J. Herpetol., 15: 67-84, provided a photograph and a key to differentiate this species from others in Vietnam. Yang, 2008, in Yang and Rao (ed.), Amph. Rept. Yunnan: 108-109, provided a brief account for Yunnan, China. Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 2: 795-799, provided an account and a spot map for China and assigned this species to their Rhacophorus maximus group.
