Comment

In the Rhacophorus (Rhacophorus) pardalis group of Dubois, 1987 "1986", Alytes, 5: 77 (see dissenting opinion on the recognition of this group under Rhacophorus). See account (as Rhacophorus pardalis annamensis) by Bourret, 1942, Batr. Indochine: 443-444. Inger, 1954, Fieldiana, Zool., 33: 372, noted that the placement of Rhacophorus annamensis as a subspecies of Rhacophorus pardalis by Wolf, 1936, Bull. Raffles Mus., 12: 208, was done without examination of specimens and should therefore not be followed without additional examination. See comments by Inger, Orlov, and Darevsky, 1999, Fieldiana, Zool., N.S.,, 92: 29-30. Nguyen, Ho, and Nguyen, 2005, Checklist Amph. Rept. Vietnam: 39, provided specific localities for Vietnam and (p. 150) a photograph. Stuart, Sok, and Neang, 2006, Raffles Bull. Zool., 54: 142, provided a record for eastern Cambodia. See brief account by Bourret, 1942, Batr. Indochine: 444-445 (as Rhacophorus notater). Orlov, Murphy, Ananjeva, Ryabov, and Ho, 2002, Russ. J. Herpetol., 9: 96, implied that this taxon is conspecific with Rhacophorus annamensis; beyond noting similarity between the taxa they did not include Rhacophorus notater in their checklist of Vietnamese amphibians. Bain, Nguyen, and Doan, 2007, Herpetol. Rev., 38: 111, provided records for Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Nam provinces, Vietnam, and briefly discussed the range. Orlov, Nguyen, and Ho, 2008, Russ. J. Herpetol., 15: 67-84, provided a photograph and a key to differentiate this species from others in Vietnam. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 538.
