Currently known only from the Kakkayam Reserve Forest, Calicut District, Kerala, India, in the southern Western Ghats.
Most similar to Philautus griet according to the original publication. Biju and Bossuyt, 2009, Zool. J. Linn. Soc., 155: 374-444 [428-429], provided an account, distribution map, and discussed relationships.
